Resolution Games released its frantic cooking title title Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale back in September, providing a lively experience for up to four players. Today, has announced a free festive update adding a new mode and themed ingredients.
The holiday update will give players a more relaxed ‘Casual Mode’ away from the demand of the regular campaign kitchen. They’ll be able to enjoy some of the updates new additions like the Christmas environment with snow covered houses and lots of bright decorations.
There will still be customers to serve with hungry reindeer and Santa awaiting a hearty meal to keep away the cold. Of course, that’ll mean some new ingredients as well, with Resolution Games throwing in turkey, candy canes, mashed potatoes and even a gingerbread house. Players will have gaudy sweaters on and the knives have a suitable Xmas design.
“Our players have had great fun whipping up meals in a frenzy with their friends to feed a hungry forest — but we’ve also heard the demand for a more relaxed, slower-paced mode that could help introduce friends and younger players to Cook-Out for the first time,” said the videogame’s producer, Gustav Stenmark in a statement. “Today’s free update is our way of delivering on that request; consider it a stocking stuffer from the friendly cooks in the Resolution Games kitchen.”
Whilst all the festive decor will only be around for the holiday season, the casual gameplay mode will be a permanent addition.
VRFocus found Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale to be an enjoyable party experience, saying the videogame: “is very much that Sunday game of Monopoly with the family, where everyone happily shouts at each other when it gets hectic and then laugh about it afterwards. This is the kind of social videogame Oculus Quest was made for.”
The festive update for Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale goes live today, available for the Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift. For further updates from Resolution Games, keep reading VRFocus.
