At the beginning of April Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) made the surprise announcement that Iron Man VR for PlayStation VR was indefinitely delayed. While disappointing fans around the world, today there’s some good news, a new release date.
Over on the PlayStation Twitter account SIE has confirmed that Iron Man VR will be arriving on 3rd July, a little under eight weeks time. There’s been concrete reason why the videogame was delayed so close to launch but further details – presumably gameplay related – are expected soon for the highly anticipated title.
Hopefully, this will now put an end to Iron Man VR’s long-running delay saga after its original launch for the end of 2019 was shelved. It was then pushed back until February 2020 followed by developer Camouflaj announcing another delay until 15th May.
Amongst all of this are the pre-orders which initially launched in October 2019. SIE did confirm that digital orders would be automatically refunded so hopefully, interested gamers will be able to place orders online again soon. Currently, Iron Man VR doesn’t appear on UK or US PlayStation Stores.
The last time VRFocus saw Iron Man VR was at Gamescom 2019 finding that: “Iron Man VR has already created plenty of buzz and excitement thanks to the possibility it’ll be a fully-fledged VR videogame rather than the short demo experience Spider-Man: Far From Home Virtual Reality. And that’s certainly justified from what VRFocus has seen so far.”
The announcement ensures PlayStation VR owners have plenty of content to enjoy for the next few months, Pixel Ripped 1995 has arrived today in North America, The Walking Dead: Saint & Sinners has already been released while Budget Cuts and Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series are due this summer.
When further details regarding Marvel’s Iron Man VR are released, VRFocus will let you know.
