Beat Saber Drops Free Track ‘FitBeat’ Supporting Standard and 360°/90° Modes

With Beat Games’ rhythm action title Beat Saber available on virtually every headset out there, the videogame provides an easily accessible form of virtual reality (VR) entertainment which everyone can enjoy. Today, the studio has released a new track completely free, FitBeat.

Beat Games co-founder and Head of Music Jaroslav Beck crowdsourced the track’s name last month and it’s very fitting considering the amount of movement involved. As you can see from the video below, the track features plenty of barriers to step either side of or duck under, so you’re not rooted to the spot and do need to physically move to keep that multiplier up.

It’s not as though Beat Saber was much of a stationary videogame in the first place, part of a wave of rhythm action titles  (Synth Riders, Pistol Whip, BoxVR) which have helped promote VR as a highly interactive and energetic medium. With Beat Saber now offering a range of modes including standard, One Saber and 360°/90°, not all the tracks are universal, however, FitBeat is. Enabling players to jump in using their favourite gameplay mode.

FitBeat is just the latest in a long line of updates Beat Games has released for the popular title, the last major one being the Timbaland Music Pack in March in collaboration with the well-known rapper and music producer. He created a 5-song set-list of exclusive tracks featuring artists like Bruno Martini, Kaydence, Nash Overstreet, Karra & Common Strangers and Sid Tipton.

Beat Saber Origins

Beat Saber is available on most digital stores like Steam, PlayStation Store and Oculus Store, supporting the likes of HTC Vive, Valve Index, Windows Mixed Reality, PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and Oculus Quest.

Having sold over 2 million copies worldwide whilst spawning its own arcade machine since its early access launch in 2018,  Beat Saber has become one of the best known VR videogames worldwide. VRFocus even awarded it a maximum five stars in its PC review. As the studio continues to further expand Beat Saber’s library of tracks, VRFocus will keep you updated.
