Secret Location has a habit of making rather interesting and enjoyable virtual reality (VR) videogames, such as Blasters of the Universe and 2018s Transpose. If you happen to own an Oculus Rift/Rift S and are yet to experience the puzzler, then this weekend is the ideal time because it’s completely free.
Having made VRFocus’ ‘The Best HTC Vive Games Of 2018‘ it is fair to say Transpose is a good puzzle title. Taking place across 30 abstract levels the videogame is all about care time manipulation of yourself. You have to create multiple, overlapping versions of your digital self, to solve puzzles which become ever-increasingly complex and twisted. You record and layer these past “echoes” to traverse paths and collaborate across time.
Featuring around 8 hours of gameplay in a fully roomscale experience, Transpose allows the complete rotation of the environment, so you can essentially walk on walls and ceilings, challenging you to collect and sacrifice energy to power up a mysterious ancient machine. In doing so experiencing perspective shifts and multifaceted puzzles in ways only possible in VR.
Achieving a four-star review, VRFocus commented: “Transpose is a feast for the eyes as well as the mind, with enough levels to keep most busy for a good few hours. If there’s a downside then the Echo Bands can be a bit fiddly when trying to delete Echos. Other than that, Transpose is a mesmerising experience that VR players shouldn’t overlook.”
The free Transpose weekend on Oculus Store starts now (10am PT/6pm BST) and runs through Sunday 15th September at 11:59pm PT (Monday 8am BST). Available in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Korean, once the free weekend ends you can purchase the videogame with a 25% discount on the Oculus Store through 20th September 2019.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of Secret Location, reporting back with the latest updates and announcements.
