VR Adventure Park ILLUCITY Opens in Paris
This is just the first of many.
Location-based entertainment (LBE) venues are becoming increasingly popular as a stepping stone into virtual reality (VR), offering bite-sized experiences that showcase the technology. The latest to open its doors is ILLUCITY – a collaboration between Ymagis and Productman – based in Paris, France, featuring the latest immersive technology.
ILLUCITY is 1000m2, aiming to provide a unique entertainment venue thanks to its four categories of premium VR experiences: Hyper Reality Experience, VR Escape Game, VR Arcade and VR Film. There’s a total of 20 videogames ready to entertain 33 players at a time, utilising HTC Vive Pro headsets, full body awareness trackers, HTC Vive controllers, MSI VR-One and HP Z VR backpacks, Bhaptics haptic jackets, D-Box dynamic seats and Onirix rotary seats.
The Hyper Reality Experience, for example, can be one of two titles, After-H: Legend of Mars or Project T. Each supports between 3 to 6 players in a 100m2 area and will take around 45 – 60 minutes to complete. The VR Escape Game, on the other hand, is for 2 – 4 players and it’s set in a dynamic room with a vibrating floor, fans and other kit. With a similar duration to the Hyper Reality Experience, VR Escape Game has four videogame options Assassin’s Creed: Escape The Lost Pyramid, The Curse of the Corsair, Eclipse and Incarna. Both of these categories cost €30 EUR per person and need to be reserved.
The last two, VR Arcade and VR Film are shorter and cheaper. VR Arcade has nine titles available: The Raft, APE-X, KnightFall, Arizona Sunshine, Space Pirate Trainer, Project Cars 2, Beat Saber, Far Reach and Space Flight. These are priced between €8 – €12, support 1 – 4 players and take around 10 minutes. VR Film has five pieces of content to watch: Construct, Asteroids !, Invasion !, Tara and Out Of The Blue. These are €5 per person and feature the Onirix rotary seats.
Head to the ILLUCITY website for more info and to book the experiences. Productman also plans to open over 100 ILLUCITY locations around the world in the next two years (Europe, Middle-East, Asia, USA). When details of those openings are announced, VRFocus will let you know.
