Oculus Go certainly seems to have been a success for the company, with a recent IDC report stating that shipments had nearly hit 250,000 devices worldwide in Q3 2018. Up until Black Friday last month the standalone headset had never been discounted, seeing a drop in price for that weekend only. Well, it looks like Oculus is either being very generous or that sale worked very well as the Black Friday discount is back for both Oculus Rift and Oculus Go.
From now until 30th December 2018, customers can either purchase the 32 GB Oculus Go for £179 GBP or the 64 GB version for £229. As for Oculus Rift, the PC-based headset is retailing for £349 until the end of the month. Having trawled through several online retailers it looks like the Oculus Go offer is purely exclusive to Oculus.com. The Oculus Rift deal, on the other hand, is available at Amazon, Argos, Currys/PC World, OverclockersUK, John Lewis and Scan.
There are a couple of terms and conditions. The offer price includes shipping costs and taxes, except for the US where taxes are excluded from the deal. Customers are also limited to how many they can buy. You can only purchase three Oculus Go’s (either version) per transaction (or three Oculus Rift’s), so if you’re getting the whole family into VR this season you’ll have to make several orders.
Of course, spending all that cash on a shiny new standalone VR headset shouldn’t be wasted by not protecting it. The official Oculus Go Carry Case isn’t on offer, unfortunately, retailing for £35.
