Remember Koei Tecmo’s Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune from 2016? That ‘volleyball’ videogame that may have just slightly over sexualised its female characters. Well, the studio has now confirmed that its sequel Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet, will also include PlayStation VR support.
Koei Tecmo announced the new title during the recent Dead or Alive Festival 2018 in Japan, and just like before there won’t be any fighting. Instead, it’ll be a holiday-themed sports title with mini-games, still with some scantily dressed characters – 10 have been confirmed so far with another to be announced.
For the PlayStation 4 version Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet will include an exclusive PlayStation VR Paradise mode to get even more immersed in the Dead or Alive World.
There also seems to be a slight difference in the two console versions, with PlayStation 4 missing out on Golden Fan and Softening Gel in the Owner Shop, which could be down to Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE’s) censorship rules. There’s no omission in the Nintendo Switch version which also includes a ‘Soft 4D’ mode – which looks highly suspect on the official website.
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet is scheduled for launch on 20th March 2019 for both platforms. Pre-orders open today, with a special edition version featuring the videogame, a “Extreme Sexy Costume S” set (11 costumes), Venus Collection photo book, Scarlet Special-Make “Forbidden Swimsuit” cards (two cards) and a Misaki extreme 3D mouse pad.
