The leading supplier of smart glasses, augmented reality (AR) technologies and products for consumer and enterprise markets – Vuzix – have announced that their Vuzix M300 now supports ‘TechSight’. Field service typically involves a see-what-I-see application that is able to deliver expert knowledge from the office remotely to a technician in the field to better provide support for the required work. By using a hands-free pair of smart glasses, technicians in the field are able to benefit from almost instant productive increases because they are able to use both hands to carry out work while simultaneously having access to the information and expertise they need in order to solve problems efficiently.

TechSight from Honeywell Intelligrated is based on AR, smart glasses technology that operates on the Web Real-time Communication (WebRTC) protocol to provide secure peer-to-peer video and audio connectivity. By utilizing the Vuzix M300 smart glasses, TechSight requires only a wi-fi connection in order to enable distribution center service technicians to steam live video and audio experts who are able to watch the whole operation remotely from an offsite location.

“We are delighted that Honeywell Intelligrated’s service offering is now supported by the Vuzix M300 for connected field workers and is the latest example of a see-what-I-see application that can deliver knowledge where and when you need it,” said Paul Travers, Vuzix President and Chief Executive Officer.

These types of applications that leverage the hands-free design and technology of AR smart glasses can save tens of thousands in costs for customers. If key equipment fails, the Vuzix M300 and TechSight can ensure a faster repair turn around or help in avoiding failure all together. By enabling a better link between support workers and field technicians with the added benefits of AR, Vuzix are continuing to empower workers across many industries.

This news comes following Vuzix revealing a strong performance over Q2 of 2018 where repeat customers and pilot programs converted to full roll-outs that are driving growth and revenue. As the company continues to grow and expanded, VRFocus will be sure to bring you all the latest.
