Welcome back to another week at VRFocus and one that is most definitely going to be focused on Germany and this year’s edition of Gamescom. But, as always, we start proceedings with Monday’s edition of Life In 360° and with Gamescom in mind I thought it best we implement once again our usual rule of trying to stay away from everything videogames related for this week. You can, after all, have too much of a good thing.
So instead today we’re looking at Vincent van Gogh.
As it happens the works of Van Gogh have been a surprisingly common topic on our website down the years. In terms of examples the one that most obviously comes to mind is the award-winning experiences The Night Cafe, but there’s also been things like DJH’s Starry and an appearance at a ‘hidden paintings’ exhibition which used augmented reality (AR).
This particular video, produced by Motion Magic Shanghai, features a world based upon Van Gogh’s 1889 work The Starry Night. (Much like some of the items featured above.) Journey past the frame and into the canvas as you enter a world of wonder influenced by one of the greatest creative talents in the history of art. There’s even a little nod to some of Van Gogh’s other work, most notably Bedroom in Arles.
Life In 360° returns on Wednesday, but keep an eye out all through this week on VRFocus for the very latest news from Gamescom and beyond.
