Today it’s Ubisoft’s turn to announce some major incoming videogames at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018. First announced at last years event, Space Junkies is a virtual reality (VR) space shooter that’s coming to HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Today, Ubisoft has revealed an open beta will be taking place this month, with sign-ups going live today.
Described by Ubisoft as: “A visceral, jetpack-fueled VR Arcade Shooter where you fly through deadly Orbital Arenas in hostile space, facing off in extreme battles!,” in Space Junkies player will use anti-gravity mechanics to fly about stages, and do battle against other players in either 1-v-1 or 2-v-2 matches.
In a style of gameplay becoming popular of VR headsets thanks to titles like Echo Arena, players will need to skilfully dodge bullets and projectiles whilst manoeuvring round obstacles and shooting down enemies in these weightless arenas, using weapons such as “Sunblasters” and “Bioguns.”
