Chinese-based company Suning Holding Group have unveiled a new installation that features some of the latest technology, including augmented reality (AR) that could change how consumers view shopping and design.
The exhibition, titled Innovative Passion, features new technology such as facial recognition and artificial intelligence alongside AR which has been created to bring an immersive and enlightening experience to visitors.
Part of the exhibition features Suning’s Magic Mirror’ which shows a customised user avatar that can be dressed with virtual clothes and accessories. There is also the ‘Emotional Wall’ which demonstrated the Suning Biu AI system, which the company says ccan transform a user’s home into something that truly suits them.
Steven Zhang, Vice President, Suning International and Board Member, F.C. Internazionale Milano S.p.A., said: “We see Milan Design Week as a platform to engage the international design community in a win-win scenario. Suning has created intelligent and innovative shopping experiences to usher in a Smart Retail era for brands and consumers, which will benefit the design industry. But with consumption there will also be insights from the design field – and there is an exciting opportunity for us to learn more from one another.”
Suning is hoping that its work at the Milan Design Week will promote international cooperation in the design field, and provide new opportunities for the company to work with leaders in the field to improve its products as it begins to look at doing deals with international brands who wish to access the Chinese market.
The company has stated its belief that technologies such as artificial intelligence, AR and virtual reality (VR) will soon become ubiquitous, and will assist in improving customer experience as well as helping businesses evolve their products and services.
Steven Zhang added: “With advanced consumer demands for better and more stylish living, Suning will build more partnerships with global design powers by further sharing our Smart Retail advantages both online and offline.”
