LeanGP Motorcycle Simulator Races Past Kickstarter Goal
You can still back the project if you've got €999 spare.
In February Spanish startup LeanGP launched a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for its motorcycle simulator for the same name. With four days left to go LeanGP has easily surpassed its funding goal to bring the virtual reality (VR) compatible bike controller to life.
The campaign aimed to raise €20,000 EUR (£17,433 GBP), achieving the target within the first few days. It’s now gone on to hit €44,134 (£38,470) easily doubling its original target, making the project a much more successful reality – although no successful Kickstarter is ever guaranteed to succeed.
LeanGP’s idea was to bring an affordable, foldable motorcycle peripheral to the consumer market for all those racing fans out there who prefer two wheels instead of four. Designed to be compact for most homes, customisable, lightweight and easy to use with plug and play functionality, the LeanGP Simulator has everything players need to make their favourite racing titles like MotoGP17, MXGP3, MUD, Road Rage and many more as immersive as possible.
Compatible with all major platforms including PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, LeanGP will also suit virtual reality (VR) headsets such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR for the ultimate motorcycle experience. The system also has a compatible mobile app (for non-headset users) that can be used like a dashboard portraying realistic data like speed and laps times for that extra added sense of realism – this feature is only valid on PC with the game GPbikes.
While successful, the campaign has failed to reach any of its lofty stretch goals which started at €250,000 and went up to €2.5 million. There’s still time to back the campaign if you so wish but all the best deals have now gone. The original Super Early Bird would have set you back €624 (£544), saving €501 off the standard price. Now the main tier left is the one at €999 which still saves €201.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of LeanGP and all the other VR focused Kickstarter projects, bringing you the latest updates.
