If you’re into your augmented reality (AR) tech and happen to be a Justin Timberlake fan then you’re in luck, as the musician has collaborated on an AR app with American Express called Outside In.
Outside In gives fans the the opportunity to delve a little deeper into the various stories behind the Man Of The Woods album, reports Billboard. Timberlake acts as your own personal guide, discussing his latest LP whilst surrounded by digital imagery.
After listening to Justin you’ll then be able to enjoy an immersive experience based on Man Of The Woods track Breeze Off the Pond. The app transports viewers to Montana, as the song plays the artist explains how the song came about whilst various icons around the mountainous scene unlock other pieces of content, including shopping for Man Of The Woods merchandise collection.
“We surprised fans and Card Members with exclusive first listens of the album leading up to its release and are excited to connect on a deeper level with the Outside In experience on the American Express Music app,” Timberlake said in a statement. “The first-of-its-kind, mixed reality experience uses cutting-edge technology to bring me directly to my fans; walk them through the concept of my new album and provide access to purchase specially designed merch in collaboration with Levi’s, Heron Preston, Ryan McGinley and more.”
The immersive AR experience is located with the American Express Music App for iOS and Android devices. iOS11+ is required for AR functionality with iPhone 7 or later is recommended to run the app. While Android 7+ is required to make the AR function work with Samsung S8, Samsung S8 Edge being the recommended smartphones.
