Survios Enter the VR Movie Experience Business With Creed: Rise to Glory
Creed: Rise to Glory will be on demonstration at GDC 2018.
Los Angeles-based Survios has already cemented itself as a premier virtual reality (VR) developer thanks to videogames like Raw Data and Sprint Vector. It’s now heading into the far more dicey terrain of videogame movie tie-ins, announcing a new VR exclusive Creed: Rise to Glory.
After Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s (MGM’s) 2016 strategic investment in Survios, this is will be the companies first IP release, throwing players into a blockbuster boxing experience. They are Adonis Creed, fighting to establish a legacy in the shadow of they’re champion father. Players will be able to go toe-to-toe with the world’s top opponents in an intense boxing experience that lets them train, fight and (eventually) win like a Creed.
Using Survios’s proprietary Phantom Melee Technology, Creed: Rise to Glory aims to challenge both your mind and body as you endeavour to become champion. The system uses several mechanics which the studio calls Responsive Control and Virtual Stamina to make the melee combat feel truly immersive. This should make experiencing the ascent of Adonis Creed from scrappy underdog to prize fighter even more epic, and of course you’ll train with the legendary Rocky Balboa.
Explaining how the Phantom Melee Technology works, Survios explains that for: “Responsive Control: two avatars dynamically sync and desync through specific in-game triggers, such as knockouts and taking a flurry of blows. With each punch, your body and avatar separate, but you have the chance to get back in the game by aligning with the body’s fighting stance or racing back into your prone character.” As for Virtual Stamina, players: “Feel the slowing effects of overexertion and fatigue through strategic desynchronization triggered by frantic player movement and successive punches.”
There will be a variety of gameplay modes, with Adonis Creed’s Career Mode being the main spectacle or arcade-style matchups with a variety of opponents and locations in Exhibition Mode.
