Life In 360°: Testing A Silver Arrow

By the time you read this you’ll have already had the pleasure, I hope of taking in an exciting trip to Adelaide and last Sunday’s Australian grand prix where the 2018 Formula 1 season has no doubt got underway with a bang.

Life In 360° / 360 Degree Video

What will 2018 bring? Can the Red Bull team reassert their dominance? What of McLaren? Can the British team pull themselves out of the funk following three seasons of pain, now with Renault power behind them? Especially now they are in competition with the works team. Can Honda redeem themselves in the aftermath of their split with McLaren and power Toro Rosso to success over their sister team Red Bull? Or will the ‘Pink Panthers’ of the (still at the time of writing) Force India prevent them from being the best of the rest. Then there’s Ferrari. Can they finally push Sebastian Vettel to a fifth drivers title? How much of Hass’ practice pace can they convert into points – and can plucky Sauber surprise everyone?

All eyes are, of course, still on the Mercedes. Rule changes mean things are not so cut and dry as the last couple of seasons but that seems to be what the team itself is keen to avoid. Will they swoop to yet another Constructors title? Can Bottas continue his improving form from the tail end of 2017? And then there’s the ultimate question – can Lewis Hamilton, a man openly questioning his desire to continue for much longer, take the title yet again?

The new Formula 1 logo… Yeah, apparently this is it now.

Thankfully for Life In 360° in the run up to that grand prix Mercedes – or should I say, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport – turned to 360 degree video once again. Uploading to YouTube a collection of short takes from around the Mercedes pits and garage, taken during testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.  Get up close and very personal with the busy, noisy world of F1 where nothing ever stops or slows down. It’s Lewis Hamilton we’re focusing on in the video as the team prep his car, send him out and bring him in for a pit stop.

Check out the video below. VRFocus will be back in a couple of days for our next visit to Li360.
