It’s not uncommon for developers to form a videogame studio in secret, laying the groundwork before an official unveiling. That occurred this week when Italian team Lunar Great Wall Studios came out of stealth, announcing a focus on creating emotional experiences for PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch whilst researching and developing solutions for new virtual reality (AR) and augmented reality (AR) devices.
Formed in May 2016 by Marco Ponte, a games industry veteran with over 15 years of experience, in collaboration with Jinglebell Communication, Lunar Great Wall Studios currently has two titles in production but hasn’t yet stated if these are VR compatible.
On the immersive content side the studio has remained fairly vague at this current point, saying that as it develops in solutions it will be looking including new ways of interacting, with the aim of offering original gaming experiences to both consumers and B2B clients.
Marco Ponte, CEO of Lunar Great Wall Studios said in a statement: “We’ve had a fantastic first-year, securing over one million euros in funding, allowing us to come to the point that we’re ready to reveal ourselves to the world. We’re all very passionate about what we do and always look to work on products which take a different direction from traditional design and genre. We’re very excited to be working on our own original IP to be announced in the near future, which is an innovative ’emotion-driven’ multi-platform projects where fun, art and culture are the protagonists”
“Lunar Great Wall Studios is to be more than a developer; a catalyst for growth in our industry,” adds Ponte. “Our investment in talent isn’t limited by our studio, but driven by it, with courses designed to be accessible. Featuring guests from other developers, we’re excited to allow a point of entry for anyone that wants to break into the games industry.”
As further details emerge from Lunar Great Wall Studios about its VR and AR plans VRFocus will let you know.
