End of the week everybody! Time to do your best “I am honesty working on that right now, Janet!” impression and slide casually into the weekend with style. Before we do all that though there’s some things we need to get out of the way first. Namely our last delve into the all-encompassing world that is created by 360 degree video.
We’ve spent a lot of the year thus far in America, and today is not going to be much different as we’re off there once again to check out some music, as I promised you not that long ago. The reason is the PBS show Austin City Limits, currently in its 43rd Season – and you may not know this but it has its own 360 degree documentary series. Called ACL: Backstage, it provides (as you may have surmised) a different look at the show and the performances on it by being with the artists behind the scenes before they step out onto the stage at Austin’s famous Moody Theatre. There’s already been a number of episodes released in the series which is shot in 6K 360° video at by SubVRsive and ACL.
The next episode is due on January 25th 2018 will be featuring Killer Mike and El-P, better known as Run The Jewels. But for now, here are all the episodes released to date!
“It’s Ed Sheeran’s second Austin City Limits performance, and since he first took the stage in 2014, his career has skyrocketed. Now, multiple Grammy wins and three platinum records later, Sheeran reflects on his signature style, die-hard fanbase, and what it means to be authentic in the modern music industry.”
Zac Brown Band
“Three-time Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum artists Zac Brown Band make a stop on their 2017 Welcome Home Tour to grace the ACL stage for the very first time. Sit backstage with the tight-knit band as they chat about ACL’s rich history, and join them onstage for their lively show.”
“Many of the crew members of Austin City Limits have been working the show for decades. Hear them recount classic ACL stories and explain the ethos and philosophy behind what makes the show so popular among musicians.”
Father John Misty
“Josh Tillman returns to ACL for the first time under the moniker Father John Misty, bringing with him the largest on-stage ensemble of the season. In this intimate episode, Misty reflects on his role as an artist while living in perilous times.”
VRFocus will be back next week with another three visits to Life In 360°. Where will we go next? Let’s see on Monday.
