Polish developer Hyperbook Studio has announced that its futuristic virtual reality (VR) shooter REGENESIS Arcade is out now in Steam Early Access, available for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality headsets.
REGENESIS Arcade is designed to be a physics-based action title, set in a bleak, future that players need to navigate through using comfortable teleportation-based movement. Players have a selection of playstyles available, with the option to use stealth to sneak up on enemies, or just go in with twin shotguns blazing.
This is Hyperbook Studios first effort at creating a VR title, and they have taken much inspiration from classic arcade titles. Players take the role of a human awoken from extended hibernation to find they are apparently the last man on Earth. The planet has been taken over by competing factions of robots, some of whom want you dead, others who wish to help you sruvive, but for their own purposes.
Players have a range of weaponry to choose from, with five weapon types, each having its own range, rate of fire and power. Players can also choose to customise their weapons, selecting from a range of perks such as freezing shots, bouncing bullets and double barrels. Power ups can also be picked up from defeated enemies and turrets, some of which are invaluable against boss monsters.
REGENESIS Arcade is available in two versions. The free LITE version and the full DELUXE Early access version. The Free-to-play LITE version gives access to three power ups, ten perks and five weapons, and is designed to get players interested in what the full game has to offer.
The DELUXE version will also be gradually upgraded as its time in Early Access continues. The DELUXE version is currently available on Steam priced at £6.47 (GBP), which is a 10% launch discount on the full price of £7.19. This discount will be available until 25th December, 2017.
