Get into a Snowball Fight on PlayStation VR in Snow Fortress [UPDATE]

Around this time last year Mythical City Games released its first full blown virtual reality (VR) title for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, a family-friendly snowball throwing videogame called Snow Fortress. Today, the studio has announced the launch of Snow Fortress for PlayStation VR..

Snow Fortress isn’t just a first-person shooter (FPS) where players throw snowballs at each other, it combines a base building aspect so that players have to create their fortifications which then need to be defended. Featuring a single-player mode with 20 levels to play through, each level requires a new fort to be built, out of either solid snow blocks or more icy translucent ones to keep an eye on the enemy base.

Once the fort is ready it’s time to begin the fight. Players can throw normal snowballs to whittle down an opponents fortifications or utilise a slingshot to do some real damage. As progression is made shields and other tools to protect themselves and the fort can be unlocked. There’s even the option to build a snowman army that can protect the snow fortress.

Aside from the single-player campaign, there’s an endless survival mode to really test your building and snowman killing skill. Currently the ultimate challenge of battling friends in multiplayer isn’t available for PlayStation VR just yet. When that does arrive it’ll likely feature cross-platform gameplay support just like Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Mythical City Games has additionally confirmed that Snow Fortress also support Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

Currently Snow Fortress is only listed on the US PlayStation Store for PlayStation VR, retailing for $14.99 USD. The title can be found on Steam for $13.99/£10.99 GBP.

Last month Mythical City Games released it second ‘made for’ VR titleSkytropolisfor Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, where players have to learn the best way of building a vertical megacity.
