Train to Your own Tunes With BOXVR’s Latest Update

BOXVR now supports Oculus Rift.

There are many ways to stay healthy, with eating the right foods – no doughnuts! – and exercising the best ways of doing so. In terms of the latter, if your not that fitness focused but love a bit of virtual reality (VR) then there are plenty of options available such as BOXVRBOXVR’s developer FITAR has just released its biggest update yet adding the ability for players to train to their own music.

As the name suggests BOXVR is all about high intensity boxing workouts, where users are guided through workouts that have been designed by a team of professional fitness instructors specifically to burn calories. The update now adds Training Mode, so that players can select MP3 and WAV files from their PC and train in 3 difficulty levels.

There’s a new glove adjustment option. Simply holding the trigger buttons now rotates and adjusts the controller inside the gloves in any angle. Due to player feedback jumps have now been removed and there’s a redesigned tutorial for new players.

The other major inclusion is expanded headset support. For its Steam Early Access launch in June BOXVR supported HTC Vive. From today Oculus Rift users can also begin training.

“Our core focus at FITAR is to build robust fitness products first and foremost. That is the reason why we have worked so closely with the fitness industry to date. We take industry best practice from the fitness world and instil that in our products – the goal is to make exercise not feel like a chore,” said Sam Cole, FITAR co-founder.

FITAR will also release another update later this month adding a Survival Mode, so that friends can compete against one another to see who can survive the longest.

“By employing techniques used in video game design and user engagement, we hope to make fitness workouts more fun and engaging,” said Sameer Baroova, FITAR co-founder. “Our goal is to see our workouts as a part of our users lifestyle as we continue to delivering great fitness results.”

BOXVR is available on Steam for £14.99 GBP. For further updates, keep reading VRFocus.
