First announced back in January, The Revera Corporation and musician VIRGO have been working on an interactive virtual reality (VR) experience called Water Planet. Originally scheduled for a summer release, the title has now been confirm for an October launch on Steam for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
Set on a beautiful and mysterious distant blue world Water Planet is an immersive first-person VR exploration title, which started life as a visual accompaniment to VIRGO’s live music performances. Players take on the role of an interstellar traveller gathering resources to fuel an interplanetary expedition. Amid endless oceans and mountains that cut through dense fog, they’ll find hidden temples and monuments just waiting to be discovered, all whilst listening to an atmospheric and evolving score written and performed by VIRGO.
Players must uncover the planet’s many mysteries as the on-board A.I., Gemini, guides them through vast underwater worlds and sunken ruins, echoing the atmospheric synths, soothing basslines and hypnotic vocals of VIRGO’s Water Planet E.P.
In July a developer diary detailed VIRGO’s inspirations for the audio design of Water Planet and its accompanying soundtrack.
