Tower Defence In Miniature

The tower defence genre has becomes popular in recent years, with small, addictive mobile titles leading its rise to prominence. Developer Reality Reflection is seeking to bring the genre more fully into virtual reality (VR) by offering a tower defence title in miniature with aptly titled Miniature TD.

Miniature TD presents a world that has the colourful aesthetics and pixelized appearance of Minecraft but the size and proportions of a doll’s house. The scale is designed to allow the player to see more of what is going on during gameplay, and also offers a method of interaction that simply involves picking up and setting down blocks, weapons traps and even people into the desired location. Players can grab a tower and place it on the map, or even pick up a weapon and charge into battle themselves, using a flamethrower or hand cannon to help cut down monsters.

The title offers three game modes, Classical Mode, which imitates the typical tower defence gameplay most players would expect. The Classic map has two entrances and one exit, players will need to place their defences carefully. Endless Mode is an endurance challenge to see how long defences can last against an endless horde of monsters. Finally, there is Infinite Wave Mode, where each subsequent wave of monsters has steadily increasing HP.

Miniature TD is available on Steam for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Oculus Rift users will need to Oculus Touch controllers, since tracked motion controllers are required. The title costs £3.99 (GBP). Further information can be found on the Steam Store page.
