Samsung’s VR Hypercube is Touring the UK Bringing 360 Infinity Selfie’s to Festivals.
It'll appear at three events this summer.
Last summer Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro teamed up with Samsung to bring an immersive 360-degree video experience to several UK festivals. That proved to be a success as the three-story high Samsung Holocube is making a return for 2017.
Kitted out with Galaxy S8 smartphones and Gear VR headsets, up to 30 people will be able to enter the Holocube to create their own unique 360 Infinity Selfie using Samsung devices. Prior to entering the 12 metre high structure, they’ll be able to view immersive content on Gear VR, then once inside control different light and sound attributes using S8’s.
This will all be captured in 360-degrees by a camera suspended from the roof, and shared with festival-goers as they exit the space.
“At Samsung we want to give everyone the chance to enjoy a brilliant summer of UK events, whether they are there in person or seeing something incredible created by their friends. Through the new Galaxy S8 and Gear 360 camera, we will give people the opportunity to create and share phenomenal personalised content through our partnerships with some of the UK’s best-loved music festivals. We will be touring some uniquely brilliant experiences, that only Samsung could produce, that ultimately make people feel differently about our brand and products,” said Sam Grant, Marketing Director at Samsung Electronics UK in a statement.
The Hypercube 360 Infinity Selfie will arrive at:
- Boardmasters – 9th-13th August, Cornwall
- Reading Festival – 25th-27th August, Reading
- Bestival – 7th-10th September, Dorset
Samsung has a habit of intertwining music and VR. Aside from Biffy Clyro, in April the company teamed up with Royal Blood for a special one-off performance livestreamed in 360.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of Samsung, reporting back with its latest VR promotions.
