Pre-Orders for Pico Goblin all-in-one Headset go Live

Pre-orders include a discount and videogame bundle.

Last month Pico, a Chinese virtual reality (VR) headset manufacturer that specialises in all-in-one (AIO) devices revealed its latest product, the Pico Goblin. Today, the company has announced that pre-orders for the unit are now live, offering a couple of early incentives.

The Pico Goblin can be pre-ordered for $249 USD/ £249 GBP/ €269 EUR, saving $20 off the regular price. Additionally, customers who do make use of the offer will also receive five VR titles bundled in with the headset.

“One of the biggest pain points for consumers interested in virtual reality headsets is the high cost of entry,” said Paul Viglienzone, vice president of business development, Pico Interactive Inc, in a statement.” We believe the price point of the Pico Goblin solves this issue for casual gamers, families and many tech enthusiasts. With its all-in-one wireless design, range of great games, and ultra-portability, the Pico Goblin aims to shake up the VR world this summer.”

The device houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor to deliver an immersive experience on the two 70Hz displays which give a combined resolution of 2.5K. The headset also comes equipped with three-degrees-of-freedom (3DoF) head-tracking and a 3DoF tracking controller.

Once customers place their pre-orders units will be shipped in 6-8 weeks as the headset goes on sale this summer, with 50 titles available on day one.

2017 will feature another big AIO headset release later this year from Google, HTC and Lenovo. Announced at Google I/O, the headset will be part of the Daydream platform and it’ll feature inside-out tracking that Google is calling World Sense, developed from Tango, and it’ll be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835, the newer version of the one in Pico Goblin.

VRFocus will be getting a hands-on with the Pico Goblin at E3 2017, so check back later this week for further information on the headset and any other VR news.
