Sony’s E3 2017 press conference hasn’t even begun, but we’re already hearing more about PlayStation VR games. In this case, hit virtual reality (VR) shooter Farpoint is getting its first DLC release this month, June 27th.
In Farpoint the player must survive in an unknown alien world after a crash, as you explore and search for fellow human survivors the player will shoot down hoards of alien creatures. And now, fans of Farpoint can invest in the DLC for more extra-terrestrial shooting action.
The DLC is called the Cryo Pack, and includes all new 2 player co-op, challenge levels, and a new ice world.
Farpoint was a great place to debut the PlayStation VR gun controller, the PlayStation Aim. It adds an extra level of immersion that helps players believe they’re truly surviving an alien menace.
Farpoint’s developer Impulse Gear focus on virtual reality, believing that the medium can “push video games to a whole new level of immersion and interactivity and the team is very excited to be at the forefront, helping to define what Virtual Reality gaming will become. Our sole mission is to deliver core games to the Virtual Reality space.”
The San Francisco-based team is currently hiring a Senior Narrative Writer – possibly hinting at more story DLC coming in the future.
Farpoint is out now on PlayStation VR, and the new Cryo Pack DLC will be out June 27th. More details on the DLC will be released during Sony’s press conference at E3 2017.
