Last month VRFocus reported that the trilogy of Kizumonogatari films would be getting a virtual reality (VR) tie-in with Kizumonogatari VR coming to Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) PlayStation VR. Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia (SIEJA), Aniplex, and Kayac have announced the experience will launch for free in Japan via the PlayStation Store.
The creation of the VR content is to celebrate the release of the third film on blu-ray and DVD, giving PlayStation VR owners the opportunity to look back over the films with lead character Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade.
Kizumonogatari – or ‘Wounded Story’ in English, follows the story of vampires living in Tokyo, with Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade as one of the central characters. A popular novel in Japan by Takeshi Nisio, Kizumonogatari’s main character is Japanese high school student Koyomi Araragi, who finds himself embroiled in a tale of vampires and vampire hunters.
Kizumonogatari VR set to launch on 12th July 2017 for Japanese customers. As you might expect there’s no word on a western release at present. If that does happen VRFocus will keep you informed.
