Nvidia’s Next Generation of GeForce GTX Battlebox’s are Ready for the Demands of VR

The Battlebox Essential and Ultimate have been announced.

Want a PC that can run a virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) but don’t know how to build one? Well there are plenty of ways to purchase a pre-made system and today graphics card manufacturer Nvidia has revealed its authorised lineup. The company has been running its Battlebox branded PC’s for a little while now with the 2017 versions featuring the latest 10-series cards.

GeForce GTX Battlebox Essential and GeForce GTX Battlebox Ultimate are preconfigured rigs made by third-party PC manufacturers to certain specifications. Both will run VR at their minimum spec but these configurations can be personalised depending on a customers requirements.

Each Battlebox has a baseline spec that it needs to adhere to to have that Nvidia badge. The GeForce GTX Battlebox Essential is the entry level PC, requiring GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5, 8GB+ RAM, SSD, Windows 10, and an NVIDIA G-SYNC Monitor if the rig ships with one. This setup will deliver 1080P at 60 frames per second for standard gamers.

While the GeForce GTX Battlebox Ultimate requires GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7, 16GB+ DDR4 RAM, SSD, D, Windows 10, and an NVIDIA G-SYNC Monitor if the rig ships with one. As the name states this is the ultimate for gaming whether that’s 4K or getting the best out of Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.

Currently Nvidia has announced several retail partners in the US and UK. For the UK head to Box.co.uk, Chillblast, Dino PC, PC Specialist, Scan or Utopia Computers. US customers can go to CyberPower PC, Digital Storm, Maingear and Origin. Customers in Austria, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Switzerland can also buy the new Battlebox’s

Nvidia hasn’t released any prices for the two products, but if further details are released VRFocus will let you know.
