Fans of hit animated show Rick and Morty may rejoice, not only is season 3 now airing, but HTC Vive and Oculus Rift virtual reality adventure Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-Ality will be launched on 20th April.
The Rick & Morty VR experience is being developed by the team behind Job Simulator, Owlchemy Labs and will put the player in the role of a clone of series star Morty, allowing them to experience all the bizarre, terrifying things that Morty does while travelling to strange, distant worlds and other realities to collect weird and wonderful specimens for Rick’s experiments. There are puzzles to solve, objects to poke and throw around, including several immediately recognisable ones from the series like the Plumbus.
The videogame was co-developed by Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland and will be fully voiced using the original voice actors, including Roiland himself. The title will be published by Adult Swim subsidiary Adult Swim Games.
Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality had previously been available as a HTC Vive exclusive demo, which was first announced at San Diego Comic Con in 2016. The latest tweet from Owlchemy Labs confirms that the title will also be available for Oculus Rift with Touch. The title is designed for room-scale play, so an area of at least 2m by 1.5m will be needed to play.
Further information can be found on the official Steam page. A price point for the title has not yet been confirmed, but there will at least be Real fake doors.
VRFocus will bring you further updates on Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-Ality when they come in.
