Chinese company Pico Interactive have announced the first details about their upcoming Software Development Kit (SDK) for their self-contained virtual reality (VR) headset, the Pico Neo CV.
The Pico Neo CV was officially revealed earlier this year at CES 2017. It is a completely untethered VR headset, which does not require a console, PC or even a Smartphone in order to run as the unit is completely self-contained. The headset features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Snapdragon VR SDK, two 1.5K at 90Hz VR displays and built in Hi-Fi speakers.
The SDK will have features such as multi-interaction controller support and inside out six degrees of freedom (6DoF) tracking to allow developers to create videogames, 360-degree video and other immersive experiences. The SDK will also feature a Unity plug-in to allow for the porting of games and other software to the Pico Neo CV from other platforms
The commercial version of the headset is set to launch some time in 2017. They are displaying the Pico Neo CV and the Pico Tracking Kit at booth no. 224, South Hall of GDC.
VRFocus will continue to bring you further news on the Pico Neo CV and GDC as it develops.
