Virtual reality (VR) comic book based on the 10 part story Moriarty: Endgame by Daniel Corey is to be revealed at WonderCon in Anaheim, California.
Moriarty: Endgame was originally produced as a 10-part short-run comic series for Image comics, in which Sherlock Holmes faces off against Professor Moriarty in a dangerous cyberpunk future. Now Daniel Corey and Transmedia Group are bringing the comic into virtual reality, using professional voice actors and an original score alongside the comic art backgrounds to produce an immersive experience. It is one of several other VR comic book experiences that are currently in development.
Transmedia Group is hosting an official launch event on Thursday, 23rd March 2017. Afterwards, attendees at WonderCon will be able to try the VR comic book for themselves on HTC Vive.
Moriarty: Endgame VR previously had a successful ‘soft launch’ at an event in Australia, where Transmedia Group is based. The VR comic book experience is currently exclusive to HTC Vive, but the developers expect the experience to be ported to other platforms.
Writer Daniel Corey had this to say: “When Anthony Diecidue and I first published MORIARTY at Image Comics, we had the good fortune of creating the first Professor Moriarty solo adventure in comic form. Today, I’m ecstatic that Transmedia.Group has the vision and skill to take Moriarty – and the comic medium – into Virtual Reality for the first time. It seems there are no worlds the Professor can’t conquer.”
Joseph Narai, CEO of Transmedia, added: Our team has been working on Moriarty for a while now, constantly testing new features, and we’re really looking forward to being able to show it off to everybody in Anaheim in March”
WonderCon is taking place from 31st March until 2nd April 2017 in Anaheim, California. Transmedia Group and Daniel Corey will be demonstrating Moriarty: Endgame VR in Booth 811.
VRFocus will bring you further news on VR comics and related subjects when it comes in.
