Not much has happened this week in regards to sports and virtual reality (VR). As ever NextVR never fails to disappoint, announcing this week that through its partnership with the NBA, it’ll be showcasing a free preview of its game broadcasts with the San Antonio Spurs vs Minnesota Timberwolves game.
NextVR and NBA Presents Free Preview of Live NBA Game in Virtual Reality
During October last year NextVR revealed it would be live-streaming one NBA League Pass game per week and this preview will give fans a taste of what to expect. After watching the immersive broadcast viewers can continue to experience NextVR’s immersive live NBA games with a special offer. Normally the League Pass subscription costs $200 USD, but this will be reduced by 50 percent so fans can watch the rest of the season for $99 instead.
If you’ve not yet seen NextVR’s live NBA game broadcasts in VR they include real-time integrated graphics, in-venue entertainment such as the halftime show, behind-the-scenes footage from the arena, and VR-specific commentary. For the San Antonio Spurs vs Minnesota Timberwolves game NextVR’s dedicated commentators will include three-time NBA Champion Bruce Bowen.
To watch the game you’ll need to download the NextVR app on Samsung Gear VR, or Google Daydream.
Check back with VRFocus next week for further VR sports coverage.
