If you’ve been keeping up with VRFocus’ coverage of CES 2017 this week you’ll know there’s been quite a lot of virtual reality (VR) news coming out of the Las Vegas event. The latest comes from third-party peripheral manufacturer Nyko, which unveiled several VR addon’s for PlayStation VR and HTC Vive.
For the PlayStation VR there’s the Charge Block and Charge Link. The Charge Block (shown below) Charge Block is a simple housing and charging solution for PlayStation Move controllers. The block plugs into any wall outlet or USB port for rapid recharging and can also connect to multiple Charge Blocks from different platforms. The Charge Block for PlayStation VR will be available in 2017 for a retail price of $19.99 USD.
While the Charge Link is a 10-foot USB Y-shaped charging cable that enables simultaneous charging of both PlayStation Move controllers. The cable has been designed to allow ample room for uninterrupted gameplay while charging. The Micro-USB cable is universal and can charge any device that uses a standard USB port. The Charge Link will launch later this year for $14.99.
The Charge Base for HTC Vive works in exactly the same way as the PlayStation VR version, offering drop and charge functionality to the Vive’s wireless controllers. LED lights illuminate to indicate the charge status of the controllers. AC powered Charge Base will be available in 2017 for $29.99.
Nyko last VR accessory is the VR Halo. These are padded slip-on covers for Vive controllers designed to protect them from daily wear and tear (hitting them against walls mainly). The cover slips on to the top of the Vive controller without blocking any sensors, buttons, or ports and will be available later this year for $9.99.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of CES 2017, reporting back with any further announcements.
