Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice developer Ninja Theory launched its first virtual reality (VR) title DEXED last year for HTC Vive, followed by Oculus Touch support in December. Today the studio has confirmed incoming support for Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) PlayStation VR.
Inspired by videogames such as Panzer Dragoon and Ikaruga, DEXED came to life through a game jam that Ninja Theory held at its office. An on-rails shooter in which one controller shoots ice projectiles while the other shoots fire, enemies players come across are susceptible to one of these projectile types. High scores are the name of the game in DEXED, so the title features a tagging mechanic enabling players to select multiple enemies before releasing a volley of missiles at them, increasing their multiplier.
When the Oculus Touch version launched Ninja Theory added two more modes, Arcade and Zen, both of which feature in the PlayStation VR release. Arcade is an endless mode for players who want an even greater challenge, with global leaderboards to compete against. While Zen Mode goes in the complete opposite direction, taking players on a relaxing tour of the DEXED environments, so sit back and enjoy them at leisure, free of enemies, markers, and distractions.
DEXED will launch next Tuesday, 31st January 2017 for $9.99 USD. For any further VR updates from Ninja Theory, keep reading VRFocus.
