Back in October VRFocus reported on Norwegian musician Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, a.k.a Kygo, unveiling a virtual reality (VR) experience called Carry Me. Showcased by Sony Music International, Ultra Records, RCA Records and MPC VR at the inaugural VR On the Lot conference, the experience was slated to arrive in November. That never happened but today PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift owners can now download Carry Me.
Describing the experience Sony states: “Inspired by the hit song “Carry Me” by superstar electronic musician Kygo, this revolutionary new music experience transports you into a stunning visual world and immerses you within beautiful environments of oceans, forests, mountains, skies and a final epic sweep of the cosmos. Feel the incredible sensation of seamlessly floating upward as you continually scale larger throughout your journey into the world of Kygo. A true must see for music fans!”
While the Carry Me VR experience is available for PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift owners, it doesn’t include every territory. Currently only residents in the US, Canada and Mexico can download it for $1.99 USD.
“When I set out to create the ‘Carry Me’ VR experience, I wanted to literally take my fans into the heart of the song using sight, sound and feeling,” said Kygo. “Virtual Reality technology gave us the ability to completely re-imagine the concept of a music video, and I’m blown away by what we’ve been able to achieve, and what else we can continue to achieve moving forward.”
