For general users of the Oculus Rift headset the built in headphones provide a good mix of form and function. But for serious audiophiles that appreciate good sound quality they’ll more than likely disconnect the standard headphones for some high-end cans. But what if you want the best of both worlds, well audio specialist Harman International has just revealed two products that might do just that.
Under Harman’s subsidiary name JBL, its revealed the JBL OR300 on-ear and JBL OR100 in-ear headphones. Taking design ques from Oculus’ own headphones both products feature JBL’s Pure Bass sound technology, with the JBL OR100’s ear tips designed to block out ambient noise for immersive audio. For consumers who prefer on-ear headphones, the JBL OR300’s won the CES Innovation award.
“Sound plays a crucial role in virtual and augmented reality experiences, so we’re excited to offer the OCULUS RIFT compatible headphones for this growing market,” said Dave Rogers, SVP & GM, SBU HMM & Global Markets, HARMAN. “The JBL OR300 and OR100 headphones were built to deliver immersive sound to consumers seeking an unparalleled virtual reality experience.”
The JBL OR300 on-ear headphones will retail for $149.00 USD, while the JBL OR100 in-ear headphones will cost $79.00. Both will be available on JBL.com from March 2017.
