Rez Infinite’s Synesthesia Suit to be Showcased at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival
Heading to the festival, you might get a chance to try on the suit.
Prior to the launch of Rez Infinite on PlayStation VR, when the videogame was showcased at events developer Enhance Games would also show off its Synesthesia Suit. Few people have actually tried the suit as only one exists, but in a recent announcement Sundance Film Festival has said it’ll be on display at the event next year.
Part of Sundance’s New Frontiers programme, the Synesthesia Suit provides a multi-sensory experience for users as the device is covered with lights and sensors. For the festival the suit will be used alongside Rez Infinite as well as the candy-coloured psychedelic universe of Crystal Vibes.
What’s not clear is if this will be the original suit of the new one VRFocus reported on last month. Tetsuya Mizuguchi, creator of the Rez franchise and Rez Infinite, a new version of the Synethesia Suit is currently in development.
This installation will be one of many at the festival, with other works including:
Journey to the Center of the Natural Machine – where visitors can explore a holographic brain with a friend on the Meta 2 augmented reality (AR) headset.
Pleasant Places – a modern elaboration upon, Vincent Van Gogh’s Provence landscapes. This series of digital paintings interrogates and reframes concepts of representation and perception through image manipulation and AR.
The Sundance Film Festival takes place in Park City, Utah, from 19th – 29th January 2017. Prices for passes start at $300 USD which are valid for weekends, while the top rate passes go for a maximum of $3500 for all access.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of the Sundance Film Festival, reporting back with any further announcements.
