If you’re a fan of card games then Temple Gates Games’ Ascension VR is worth checking out. A cross-platform title that supports virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs), Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Samsung Gear VR, the videogame launched back in August and since then received several small patches. Today the studio has released the first major expansion to the experience, called Ascension VR: War of Shadows, adding more content as well as support for Oculus Touch which launched yesterday.
As stated this is expansion DLC rather than an update, so the following new content has to be purchased in game for $7.99 USD/ £5.59 GBP. The Oculus Touch support is an update, so that’s free for all Ascension VR players. This also means that HTC Vive owners now get full tracked motion controller support enabling owners of either system to articulate their avatars, adding further immersiveness and interaction to the videogame.
The Ascension VR: War of Shadows expansion contains:
- 10 New Monsters
- 24 New Heroes
- 9 New Constructs
- Day and Night powers
- Day and Night forest environments
There are now dual-cost Heroes and Constructs requiring players to use both resources to purchase them, but with the beneficial bonus of being incredibly powerful. And as the balance between Light and Dark shifts, cards gain additional powers depending on whether it’s Night or Day.
For those that don’t already own Ascension VR Temple Gates Games currently offers a bundle deal through Steam. Players can purchase the base game along with the expansion for £10.69, saving 15 percent on buying them separately.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of Ascension VR, reporting back with any further updates.
