Nowadays its hard to miss the annual sales blitz that is Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Especially when retails such as Amazon are already offerings deals in the run up to the big day. And for those interested in nabbing a virtual reality (VR) bargain HTC is getting in on the act by offering a big discount on the Vive headset.
For those that want to purchase a HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD), HTC will be offering a $100 USD discount for the device through its online store as well as its various retail partners. These include Microsoft Stores, Amazon.com, Gamestop, Newegg.com and Micro-center. Additionally, the HTC Vive will also be available for sale in 34 Fry’s locations across the U.S and online.
Every purchase of HTC Vive comes with two videogames bundled in, The Gallery – Episode 1: Call of the Starseed by Cloudhead Games and Zombie Training Simulator by Acceleroto. Google Tilt Brush used to be included but that promotion ended last month.
This deal will be the first time HTC has offered a discount off the headset itself. Previously the company has partnered with HP on the Vive Ready HP Computer Bundle which retails for £1,499 GBP – usual RRP is £1699.
Over the past week plenty of new content has either landed or been confirmed for HTC Vive. Today for example nDreams has added motion controller support for The Assembly, 2K has announced NBA 2KVR Experience, and Final Goalie: Football Simulator from indie game developers Ivanovich Games and Dark Curry has launched. While last week CCP Games’ EVE: Valkyrie, Google Earth VR and Starloop Studios’ Overkill VR all landed on the platform.
