Monday is here once again, chasing off the weekend with the promise of more work to come. In our case that promise if more virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) news. Monday morning of course brings with it our first of three trips to Life In 360? and we have for us today a new trailer for a documentary series entitled VR Wonders of the World.
Created by Vancouver-based VR production agency Perspective Films, VR Wonders of the World takes you on a trip around the globe for a series of customisable adventures investigating things that need to be seen to be believed. Choose both your music and your narration to set the mood, as you go on trips to places like the Grand Canyon or stand under the dancing canvas of the sky to witness the magic of the Northern Lights.
Conceived by cinematographer Chris Bedyk, the series – by Bedyk’s own admission – was “challenging” to pull off, given the extreme environments. “[The] crew faced +50?C heat and almost crashed in a hot air balloon while filming the Grand Canyon episode. While capturing the Northern Lights episode, cables snapped in half when temperatures dropped to -30?C.” Bedyk recalls, but notes that it was all worth it in the the end. “When watching the Grand Canyon episode in a VR headset, you really feel like your being lifted up by a hot air balloon.”
You can find the trailer below. VRFocus will be back on Wednesday with our next trip into Life In 360?.
