In an announcement today HTC is now offering free shipping for any orders of the HTC Vive through its dedicated website.
Over recent months HTC has been making a global push for its virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), introducing new initiatives and developments for both consumers and commercial enterprises alike.
With the new delivery offer in the run up to the festive period, customers who have contemplated purchasing the headset will now be able to save some cash. HTC has stated the free delivery offer is only available for a limited time, but doesn’t say when till. Not only is the offer available for the headset itself but its also applicable to the Vive Ready HP Computer Bundle which launched last month for £1,499 GBP.
The offer doesn’t look to be available in every territory, with the US and most European countries including the UK included, but shipping to Australia for example will still incur an additional delivery price. But for Australians there’s been good news recently in the form of a new retail deal with Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi offering both stock in store and demo locations for customers to try-before-they-buy.
Earlier today HTC revealed the launch of Viveport M, the mobile version of its new retail platform for Chinese customers. Through their smartphones users can watch and purchase VR videogames, 360-degree videos and apps. The platform also supports Vivepaper to provide an ‘Augmented Virtual Reality’ (A-VR) reading experience.
HTC isn’t just interested in the consumer side of VR. HTC Healthcare hosted the Sino-US Neuroimaging Virtual Reality Solution Seminar in Beijing, China, to showcase neuroimaging VR solutions to some of the country’s top neurosurgeons.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of HTC Vive, reporting back with the latest announcements.
