HTC Partner With Shenzhen Municipal Government To Develop VR In China

Shaping up to be one of virtual reality’s (VR’s) biggest battlegrounds is Asia, and in particularly China. A topic that chairman and co-founder of investment bank FirstCapital, Hazel Moore analysed on VRFocus just last month. Now HTC Corporation have announced their entry into entered into a new strategic partnership with the Shenzhen Municipal Government. One that promises to be extremely advantageous for the company.

Shenzen already has special status in China with existing economic ties to the electronics industry. It has also been dubbed a Special Economic Zone. The agreement also builds on the partnership that began earlier in the year through work on an four year action plan for VR development within Shenzhen.

“It is a great honor for us to enter into the Strategic Partnership Agreement with the Shenzhen Municipal Government. As a pioneer and market leader in the VR industry, HTC possesses groundbreaking innovative technology and expertise. We hope that we can take this opportunity to merge HTC’s advanced technologies and first-class, global talents together with Shenzhen’s local industry and academic institutes as organized and coordinated by the Shenzhen Municipal Government.” HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang commented.

Both HTC and the Shenzhen Municipal Government are set to work together in order to develop a 10 billion investment fund and work with existing research and development centres to improve their output and quality to “an international level”.
