Conan O’Brien is no stranger to virtual reality (VR), although based on his latest collaboration with the technology you might be forgiven for thinking otherwise. The American comedian and host of his eponymous TBS talk show Conan has previously dallied with the technology with the Google Cardboard compatible Conan360 app which has been a part of the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) for both 2015 and 2016.
A well know video game fan, O’Brien has often featured the latest releases as part of his show. On his Thursday night show however the focus was VR and after O’Brien visited New York City and one of Google’s YouTube Space locations. Whilst there he was guided by Tom Small, the head of VR for the Youtube Spaces, through a number of experiences which the Conan team were able to show, capturing everything that was going on through mixed reality (MR).
However, despite the wonders of the technology and his experiences with Google’s own Tilt Brush as well as the fun of Job Simulator, according to O’Brien he really just wants to know about how it will change his enjoyment of pornography. A thought that just won’t go away as his efforts with the HTC Vive continue throughout the recording.
It’s a funny, if outrageous eight minute showcase of what it’s like to be in VR and you can see it below. Stay tuned to VRFocus for updates on everything (well, almost everything – sorry Conan) relating to VR.
