Last week saw the Mi Product Launch Event where Xiaomi shared some pretty exciting news on the virtual reality (VR) mobile-based head-mounted display (HMD) front. The Mi VR HMD has been launched in China for as little as $29 (USD).
One of the new features is the HMD’s hardware-level motion sensor which is described to be “16x more sensitive, and when coupled with system level optimizations and a high-performance phone, results in a 16ms ultra-low latency.”
There is a storefront for the Mi VR that looks very much similar to that of the Google Daydream, where there are over 500 panoramic videos, 30+ VR apps, and in excess of 200 registered developers.
The HMD is said to be compatible with Mi Note 2, Mi 5s, Mi 5sPlus, and Mi 5 mobiles phones.
