Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) will be launching its PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) on Thursday and to celebrate the event it’ll be holding a midnight launch at its Square New York City (NYC) facility.
Sony Square NYC – located at 25 Madison Ave – is inviting fans to come along to the launch, with queuing commencing at 7pm on 12th October. It might be worth popping along if you haven’t ordered the headset as the first 300 people will get the opportunity to purchase a PlayStation VR at midnight.
The facility opened in August enabling visitors able to see the latest Sony products as well as prototypes. At launch it showcased LifeSpace UX products, including Glass Sound Speaker, LED Bulb Speaker, Portable Ultra Short Throw Projector. Project “N” from Sony’s “Future Lab Program,” a Concept display from the Fashion Entertainments project, MESH – a smart DIY platform to make creation of “smart inventions”.
Then in September it created a dedicated PlayStation VR area so attendees could demo the HMD at five separate kiosks, with Farpoint on display as well as PlayStation VR Worlds which includes five titles: The London Heist, Scavenger’s Odyssey, VR Luge, Ocean Descent and Danger Ball.
