There have been a fair few competitions floating around for virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), and now uSens has a competition for developers to get on board for a chance to win some hefty cash-based prizes, and it is called the uDev Challenge.
What each of the devs have to do in order to be in the running is first and foremost, be in either the US or China, and they must use the uSens Software Development Kit (SDK) and new uSense Fingo module for integrating hand and head positional tracking tech. Original apps for the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Gear VR, and Google Cardboard are accepted, and can be based on any kind of industry, be it gaming or healthcare.
Keeping in mind this accounts for both regions seperately, first prize gets the bulk of the $200,000 (USD) with the total of $50,000, second price gets half of that at $25,000, third prize gets $10,000, and there are cash prizes for additional runner-up finalists which should amont to quite a bit if it to use the rest of the cash.
“uSens is solely focused on improving the way humans interact with augmented and virtual reality,” said Yue Fei, uSens CTO. “With our SDK, developers will be able to get a head start using the latest HCI tech for their ARVR apps. Our uDev Challenge is an opportunity for developers to create the most naturally interactive 3D experiences and push the boundaries of virtual reality. And, who knows, maybe we’ll find the next killer ARVR app!”
The deadline for applications is 15th October, on 1st November there will be the announcement of the semi-finalists. The semi-finalists then have the deadline of 27th January 2017 to submit app projects, and between the 27th February and 3rd March the winners are to be announced during GDC in San Francisco.
