No, this isn’t a chance to win a prize, but something much more valuable as a member of the virtual reality (VR) community: a chance to showcase your creations among some of the bigger names in the business. Develop:VR is hosting its first ever Indie Zone, and if your piece gets chosen then you could be featured on one of the stands.
The submissions that can be made can be either VR or augmented reality (AR), and it doesn’t matter whether or not it is a gaming title as there is only one real criteria for it: there needs to be no more than 15 people in the studio who has developed it and that the project has cost less than £1 million (GBP).
“At Tandem Events we’ve always aimed to champion Indie Talent,” commented managing director, Andy Lane. “Following on the success of the Indie Showcase, which entered its sixth year at Develop:Brighton 2016, it felt like a natural progression to create an Indie Zone at the first Develop:VR conference and expo. VR and AR offer devs such a creative and relatively unexplored platform; I can’t wait to see the projects entered.”
Those judging whether or not your piece will be one of the final 10 will be Solomon Rodgers from Rewind, Sam Watts of Make Real, and Steve Jelly from Hammerhead VR.
For a chance to be one of the 10 indie devs to feature during this first ever VR event where there will be many big names wandering around, make sure to submit your pieces before Monday 26th September.
