The Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2016 opened its doors yesterday and there’s been lots of interesting virtual reality (VR) news coming from the event. One company that’s been showcasing some VR projects is Square Enix. The developer and publisher has been demoing Kai-ri-Sei Million Arthur VR from Gree Co. on the HTC Vive, and its also been experimenting with Manga and VR in the form of Project Hikari.
The Project Hikari: VR x MANGA Concept Showcase at TGS 2016 is an experimental crossover concept whereby Manga titles can be viewed in VR, which if developed further could see fans favourite content brought to life in new immersive ways. Few other details have been released about Project Hikari: VR x MANGA Concept Showcase other than the below screenshots, but HTC Vive did tweet a picture of several attendees trying out the demo.
Square Enix has been gradually building up its VR support through various projects. Aside from the recently revealed Kai-ri-Sei Million Arthur VR, the company also has the Tomb Raider VR Experience coming for PlayStation VR, Hitman Go VR Edition for Samsung Gear VR, and Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience also for PlayStation VR.
