There’s only three weeks to go until the worldwide launch of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) for PlayStation 4. One of the headsets major launch titles is Guerrilla Games’ sport title, RIGS: Mechanized Combat League. Today the studio has announced that development has been finalised by going gold.
Revealing the announcement on PlayStation.Blog, Guerrilla Games’ Community Manager Jeroen Roding discussed all the work that went into building the videogame, saying: “20 TBs of builds later, we’ve recorded 9,114 lines of dialogue in each of 11 languages (that’s 100,254 lines of dialogue!), raised 8,748 bugs and more than 1.3 million changelists.
“Now we stand almost on the eve of launch. As I type, the Gold Master is being pressed and very soon will be shipped around the globe to give so many more people their very first experience of PS VR and the promise that it holds.”
While the announcement means that RIGS: Mechanized Combat League is ready to be played by lots of eager PlayStation VR owners when their headsets do arrive its not the end for the studio. The Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2016 last week saw the first competitive 3v3 live-stream and there’s likely to be many more. Also teased was the news that Guerrilla Games is already developing more content for RIGS: Mechanized Combat League, although no details were given.
PlayStation VR owners won’t even need to purchase RIGS: Mechanized Combat League to get a taste of the action as it’ll be one of the demos included on the disc that comes with every headset.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of RIGS: Mechanized Combat League, reporting back with any further updates.
