Last week VRFocus reported on the quiet unveiling of a new PlayStation Camera for PlayStation 4, an essential requirement for the forthcoming PlayStation VR. A redesign opposed to a reinvention, this new model of the PlayStation Camera is now available to pre-order.
The PlayStation Camera offers a number of special features for PlayStation 4 gamers, including the option to broadcast yourself in play across networks such as Twitch with picture-in-picture video functionality for gameplay livestreams. Players can also create and share narrated videogame walkthroughs in high-definition (HD) as well as taking part in video and voice chat through four built-in microphones.
Players can also utilise the 3D depth-sensing camera and DualShock 4 wireless controller’s light bar to track player movements through space, log in to their PlayStation Network account instantly with facial recognition and navigate PlayStation 4 system menu hands-free with voice inputs.
Finally, as stated above, the PlayStation Camera is essential for the forthcoming PlayStation VR as it is used to track the movement and rotation of the head-mounted display (HMD).
The newly revamped PlayStation Camera for PlayStation 4 is available to pre-order via Amazon now, priced at $59.99 USD. A release date is suggested for 19th September 2016, but is yet to be confirmed.
