Every year CCP Games holds the EVE Fanfest in Reykjavik, Iceland, attended by players from across the globe. Next month the developer will be holding EVE Vegas at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegs, Nevada, and as part of the event is the EVE: Valkyrie Tournament of Champions, which registrations are now open for.
The tournament is a PvP event for virtual reality (VR) title EVE: Valkyrie using Oculus Rift head-mounted displays (HMDs). Out of all the registrations received 64 players will be chosen, put into 16 teams and then battle through four rounds single elimination 4v4 Team Deathmatch competition. The victorious team will then take on the Invaders, the winners of the EVE: Valkyrie Fanfest 2016 Tournament, in a grand final best of three match.
Matches will take place on the Crossroads map, and players will have access to the Wraith, Displacer, Cyclone or Revenant ships.
To take part you need to be over 21 (it is Vegas after all) and complete the sign up page form. Entrants will need their EVE Vegas receipt number as proof they’ll be attending the event. Registration closes on Thursday, 20th October 2016 at 11:59 UTC, after which a random draw will take place to decide the teams.
The EVE: Valkyrie Tournament of Champions will begin at 1:30pm on Saturday 29th October with the grand final beginning at 1:30pm on Sunday 30th October 2016. Prizes haven’t been announced but CCP Games has stated: “they’re awesome!”
EVE: Valkyrie was a launch day title for the Oculus Rift, being one of the big name titles for the headset. It’ll also be available for PlayStation VR on 13th October, with a HTC Vive version due out later this year. CCP Games previously confirmed the videogame would support cross-platform play, so it doesn’t matter which headset you own.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of EVE: Valkyrie, reporting back with the latest announcements.
